Description

This kit allows the Anytone578 faceplate to be remotely mounted from the body. This does not require permanent changes to the radio, and the kit may be reversed.

The kit includes all cables, screws, components, and detailed instructions to complete the installation in less than 30 minutes. Please follow appropriate safety precautions during installation.

At a high-level, the installation process involves:

  1. Removing all power and antenna from radio
  2. Removing screws
  3. Unplugging stock cables
  4. Plugging in new converter cables
  5. Lightly hand-tightening screws
  6. Plugging in the connecting cable

OPTIONS:

RAM Mount: If you would like a 1″ Ram Ball w/AMPS mount to be included in your order. Will be pre-installed.
—-If you don’t want the RAM mount, you will still receive the SCREWS used to attach an AMPS mount.

Integrated Mic Holder: Please reference photos and dimensions to make a decision.

Cable Length: Maximum cable length for the 578 PLUS (see FAQ below) is 36 Inches, so the included length for this kit is 36″.  You may purchase 10 Inch increments for 5$ each but this longer length will only work for PRO or previous Hardware v1.00 models.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is there a limit on cable length?

The primary driver for cable length is the way the Anytone578 processes audio between the Head unit and the Body of the radio. The analog audio amplifier is on the Body of the radio, so it needs to pass analog audio over any cables between the two. As such, there is eventual resistance issues that limit cable length.

For the Hardware 1.00 Modules (PRO and earlier) that is around 56Inches.

For the Hardware 1.10 Models (PLUS and later) that is around 36 inches.

How can I tell if I have a PRO or a PLUS? What’s my maximum cable length?

Check the Hardware version in your radio settings.

Hardware 1.00 = PRO and earlier = 56″

Hardware 1.10 = PLUS and later = 36″

This seems different than the first kit (or the one I bought earlier) What gives?

Thanks for noticing!

Case Changes:

We tightened up some tolerances in the pieces and needed to solve some consistency issues for the PLUS models.

We couldn’t source a GPS module to fit in the ‘smaller’ cutout in the Hardware 1.10 boards, and we didn’t want to have too many on-shelf stock differences. SO we redesigned the case to include the GPS holder so it is the same solution for BOTH kits, and they will both benefit from a 18x18GPS module instead of lessening the performance of the kit for PLUS users.

Price model / Cable length:

This is intended to make inventory management and customer purchasing easier. The old base price was 100USD for the kit with 56″ of cable and a GPS antenna. The new kit is 90USD for the kit with 36″ of cable and a GPS antenna. This kit works for all 578s, but if you want you can upgrade to a 56″ cable for 10 dollars and you’re back to the ‘original deal’. This just makes it fair for the PLUS users so they pay for the cable that works, and not full price for less material.

In the end, you have a more consistent product at the same price!

Received this last week, and was up and running in about 20 minutes! Works great, as expected. Wish for my application the cable was longer.. but after thinking outside the box, was able to complete the custom installation.

Previously, my 578 was mounted on the passenger side of the center counsel. It was difficult to see the display and a major safety issue to have to look down for any period of time to read the display. In an attempt reduce the safety risk, I purchased a BT-01 wireless unit. I immediately discovered it was not possible to read the BT-01 display with polarized sunglasses unless you turned the unit 90 degrees.

Installing the kit was easy with the enclosed instructions and photo support instructions. After installing the relocation kit, I found I could power on the radio but there was no display. The staff at Blaydefab provided excellent assistance in troubleshooting this problem…even reconfiguring their radio to match my software and firmware versions. Bottom line was I had not inserted the ribbon cable squarely into the connector on the face plate. Everything is working fine now.

I now have the faceplate installed at a viewable level and use the Anytone steering wheel push-to-talk button to connect the radio to the car multimedia system. This eliminates the need for the mic cord connection to the faceplate unit. I definitely feel I have a much safter mobile operation and a very clean installed look.

Received the conversion kit for my 578UVIII Plus. I initially had problems with the ability to control the volume, tried loading past firmware versions, but did not help. I contacted Blayde with my issue. He was very helpful with my issue. The only think to try was a different cable length, so Blayde made up three different size cables to try, and shipped them to me, including a return mail label to send the whole kit back in case it did not work. Well, fortunately, the three foot cable worked!

I wish it could have been a longer cable, but I moved some equipment around from under the driver seat to the passenger seat, extended power cables and coax cable to make it work. I just did not want to go back to the BT01 hand mic, as the audio and battery longevity were an issue for me.

Thanks Blayde for a pleasant transaction and helpfulness, putting all those cables and connectors together had to have taken a fair amount of time.
